Can you clean a deck before staining?

Yes — cleaning is a common first step before staining or sealing. Let us know your plans so we can prepare the surface accordingly.

Will cleaning damage older wood?

We adjust pressure for the age and condition of the wood. Boards that are already split or rotted should be repaired or replaced.

Do you clean composite decking?

Yes. Composite is cleaned with lower pressure and appropriate solutions.

Protect Your Investment

Preventative Maintenance for Your Deck

A few simple habits help your cleaned surfaces last longer, look better, and avoid costly repairs down the road.

Clean before staining or sealing: removing mildew and graying prepares wood to absorb protectant evenly.
Seal or stain wood regularly: a fresh coat blocks moisture, the main cause of warping, rot and splintering.
Keep boards clear of debris: leaves between deck boards and against fence bases trap moisture and accelerate decay.
Inspect ground contact points: fence posts and deck posts near soil are the first to rot. Raise or replace them before failure.
Redirect sprinklers and drips: constant water exposure on the same boards causes discoloration and softening.
